The Fake Recycle

This project took shape in the most severe years of smog in Beijing (20015-2016)

Someone started a business of trading clean canned air on an online platform. They collected from areas with high-quality air (Brazil and New Zealand) and then transported them to China through high-pressure canning and sold them at a high price. This kind of business is very popular, but it has also aroused widespread social discussion. So I created an absurd character: He breathed in canned air delivered from New Zealand every day, and the exhaled carbon dioxide supplied a plastic artificial flower to "grow well".

I want to explore through this absurd character and installation: Do we really need to pay for clean air? Is this approach really sustainable? Should we pay attention to the problem of air pollution itself to find effective solutions?
